Belladonna is one of the important remedies in classical homeopathy associated with states that begin suddenly and violently. High fever, redness, a sensation of heat and throbbing pains are its main features. Complaints start rapidly and run an intense course.

Usage notes

Homeopathic remedy selection is based on symptoms. To consider a remedy, the individual's current complaints, symptoms, and overall symptom picture should be evaluated as a whole.

In classical homeopathy, remedies are not routinely used solely to prevent disease or for possible future conditions. Remedy selection is based on the symptoms that are present and the individual's unique symptom picture.

For this reason, each remedy should be considered according to its characteristic and distinguishing symptoms.

  • Compared with Glonoinum: In sunstroke, Glonoinum has a bursting, throbbing head and surging waves of blood. Belladonna is accompanied by fever, hot red skin, dilated pupils, and delirium.

  • Compared with Stramonium: Both can show febrile delirium. Stramonium is dominated by terror and a desire for light and company; Belladonna by congestion and heat.
